No Question!!

There will be no question today in honor of the holiday break coming up. If you have not done discussion question 1 or 2, please do them now! I will not count them as late until after the holiday break.

Discussion Question 2

If you have been in peer tutoring previously, you will have a different question than those that are in peer tutoring for the first time.
First Time Peer Tutors:
Choose a student, describe them including the way they communicate, the things that they like, and specific personality characteristics.

Advanced Peer Tutors: We have decided to give you a different, trimester long assignment to take the place of the pamphlet and paper. Choose one and discuss and ask questions. Here are some of your choices,
Create a glog for student use, and keep it updated.
Create 8-10 original books-similar to calendar books.
Create Activities using Classroom Suite (we will provide Training)
Create personalized books for 5 students. This will include taking pictures of students throughout the trimester, writing stories for them to read on subjects and topics they are interested in. A colorful, creative, exciting book for an individual student!
If you have an idea, or proposal, please let us know! We will consider all ideas. :)

Welcome to the discussion question blog for peer tutoring! You will need to visit this blog often, so please bookmark it. Do a little bit of research, and find someone who is famous that has a disability! Name the person, and give some information about their disability, and why they were/are famous!

DQ 10

Choose a student. Don't give their name, but describe them in as much detail as you can. Describe how they communicate, what they like and dislike, and anything else you can think of! See if I can guess who you are talking about!

Discussion Question 9

Each student in the classes have their own specific way of communicating. What are ways that you see students communicating what they want and how they feel, and what have you successfully done to keep a student communicating with you?

Though we hope that it never happens, some students have aggressive, or unacceptable behaviors. Some students may hit, throw things, scratch, talk nasty, etc. As peer tutors, how would you respond to behaviors such as these?

Discussion Question 7

The next big assignment for this class is the informational 5 paragraph paper on a Disability. You have to choose a different disability from what you chose for the informational pamphlet/brochure. What disability would you like to choose, and why? This assignment is due on November 20th.

Discussion Question 6

All right, everyone told me what disability they wanted to research for the pamphlet/brochure that is due on Friday. How do you think your life would be different if YOU had the DISABILITY that you chose. Describe your life, include positives and negatives!

Your informational pamphlet on a disability is due on October 9th. What is the topic you have chosen, and why did you choose it?

This is an example of a pamphlet. Make sure you have pictures as well as information, and that you are citing where you received your information. It does not need to be typed.

Discussion Question #4

Describe what your role, as a peer tutor, is in the classroom. Give specific details and examples of what YOU should do when you walk into the classroom, how you interact with the students, and what you should do while you are in the class.
