Discussion Question 7
The next big assignment for this class is the informational 5 paragraph paper on a Disability. You have to choose a different disability from what you chose for the informational pamphlet/brochure. What disability would you like to choose, and why? This assignment is due on November 20th.

I chose Cerebral Palsy because I am really interested in learning more about it because I know several people who have CP. Learning more about it will help me educate myself in how I can help them and help me learn to understand the disability more. The more I know about CP the more I can help people who have it and do things to make life easier for them. Cerebral Palsy is a disability I have looked up many times and I am a member of the CP foundation that supports people who have it even if they are not related to you. I believe it is important to learn more about a disability that you are intrested in because then you know how to react if you think you might see someone with it or have a friend or even family member who has it.
ReplyDeleteI have completed my paper and enjoyed learning and reading more about the disability. I think the more you learn about something the more you accept it and the more you feel comfortable around friends who have it. The more you know the more you can help.

I won't to know about epelpsy, I mean all I know is that you is that you catch sesors. I won't to know the facts and how you are diagnost with the disablity, I won't to know is there a cure for the disablity, I won't to know can it go away or do you keep it your whole life, also I won't to know what gender gives it to you or does a gender gives it to you or are you just born with it.

ReplyDeleteI have done previous research papers on Cerebral Palsy and Autism. I am currently not sure what I want to do my research paper on. I am interested in Downs Syndrome and also O.C.D. Maybe I will do my research paper on one of these. I will get back to you on what I am doing soon!

I'm thinking about doing Down Syndrome for the next big assignment. It is a disability that I have been wanting to know more about ever since i started to help out with the special olympics at OPRF, also since I visited my mom at her work which was working with kids with disabilities at Holmes School. I hope that doing my paper on this disability will help me learn more about how to act with the children that have this disability.

I would like to do the paper on O.C.D. because this illness really interests me. I want to know what makes the people with O.C.D. do the things they do and act in certain ways. I don not really know that much about O.C.D. so it would be a paper that would be full of things that are totally new for me.

I am going to choose Autism because my brother has pretty severe autism, and I would like people to know why he acts the way he does. Also, if it's allowed, I might be able to suppliment my research with my observations (I wouldn't use just my observations, but maybe I could use them as examples of behavior.)

My topic is going to be Autism because there are many people with Autism, and in case I work with the Special Olympics at OPRF High School I would like to learn more. I want to learn more about Autism because from what I know it is very hard to communicate with others and trying to learn a language. So Autism sometimes makes kids look different from others which is not true because they are just like anyone else.

I am considering on doing my paper on O.C.D, or on Tourette syndrome. I did my pamphlet on Autism, and I heard a lot about Tourette syndrome from people who were doing their pamphlet on it and the disability sounded very interesting. I was thinking about doing Obsessive compulsive disorder because I think that is a disability that would be very different to learn about, and what it really means to have O.C.D

I actually have no idea what to do for my paper. When I was looking through the packet one of the ideas was HIV/AIDS which I am leaning towards doing. I think it would be interesting to do a disorder that people are rarely born with (only through an occasional case of mother to her unborn child). Also, I can name at least 3 people of interest to me that have died from AIDS realted causes (Rock Hudson, Freddie Mercury, and Scott Smith) and I want to know more about work for a cure.
ReplyDeleteI am going to do my paper on OCD. I know a few people with this dissorder and would like to learn more about it. I dont know anything on OCD so i think to be able to learn more about it, it would be a good opportunity.

I might do cerebral palsy because I find it to be very interesting. I didn't know what it was untill I asked my mom what the disability was and she explained a little bit to me. Also I might do O.C.D. because I know what the disorder is, but I don't know much about it. It would be interesting to learn what it would be like to have O.C.D. For I'm still desiding on which one to do.

I chose Bipolar Disorder because many of my relatives have it. A know a lot about it already because I see when they go through their ups and downs. I find it very interesting, also, because many famous actors have some symptoms of it, such as Jim Carrey. Those are my reasons.

For my paper I decided to choose substance abuse. I decided to do this disorder because I hear about this unfortunate even all the time. Substance abuse takes lives. I’ve seen this happen in my family and I want to learn more about it, and the psychology behind it as well.

ReplyDeleteI think i want to do my paper in O.C.D or Bipolar. I would chose O.C.D because i know quite a lot of people who have it and i really don't understand what it really is? I would also would want to do my paper on Bipolar Disorder because a close family memeber to me has it.

i would chose cancer because my grandpa had two cancers in the past 10 years. he had lymphoma in his cheeks when i was little. it made his cheeks puff up like a chipmunck storing nuts. i remember he ad to take chemotherpy and it make his hair fall out. he survived that and it was a relief to the whole family. in sixth grade i wanted to find out more about lymphoma so i studied it. then last year he was diagnosed with lung cancer. when i found out i was crying. i thought this was it, i thought he would die. but he powered through that cancer and is still alive today. he is healthy and well. he still plays tenis and on teusdas dilivers food to very old and ill people for free. he is about to turn 80 this year and he is the most active 79 year old i know. i wanted to know more about cancer and how you can get it and how it starts so thats why i chose it.
