If you have been in peer tutoring previously, you will have a different question than those that are in peer tutoring for the first time.
First Time Peer Tutors:
Choose a student, describe them including the way they communicate, the things that they like, and specific personality characteristics.
Advanced Peer Tutors: We have decided to give you a different, trimester long assignment to take the place of the pamphlet and paper. Choose one and discuss and ask questions. Here are some of your choices,
Create a glog for student use, and keep it updated.
Create 8-10 original books-similar to calendar books.
Create Activities using Classroom Suite (we will provide Training)
Create personalized books for 5 students. This will include taking pictures of students throughout the trimester, writing stories for them to read on subjects and topics they are interested in. A colorful, creative, exciting book for an individual student!
If you have an idea, or proposal, please let us know! We will consider all ideas. :)
Well i would choose Becca She cam hear what people tell her an she can talk to but she understand what people say by using her device that talk for her it has lots of word and the teachers use it also to help her
ReplyDeleteBecca Is also a hard workers student she like to hae fun also and she loves to work on the computer

The student that I choose is Lorenzo. Lorenzo is very talkative and I can understand what he says very easily. Lorenzo likes to write his name. Every chance he gets, he writes his name in big letters. He also likes to work. Ms. Diehl never has to tell Lorenzo to keep working, he just works. Lorenzo is a very hard worker and is a very nice person. Also he is very polite. Lorenzo always says thank you after someone helps him.

I would choose Lorenzo. He's really cool and he communicates very well.Lorenzo is also polite. He says please when he wants things and replies with a thank you when he gets it. He talks clearly most of the time and I can understand what he means. Along with words he also uses hand gestures. Some things that he really likes to do is play the Wii and count his tickets. A specific personality trait that Lorenzo has is that he is an over-acheiver. He always writes his name on the top of his worksheet even if it is not necessary. He's a great guy and I look forward to spending more time with him.

I would be very intrested in the creating books for 5 students, this sounds very fun and because this is my last year at brooks I think that would be very memorable. This option seems like the most effort and time consuming but I really like the idea of pictures and personalized books to show each student they are very special. My questions are, How would we choose 5 students without making the others feel upset or bad that they did not get choosen? When you say writing stories for them to read on topics they enjoy do you mean from your own expierence, from the web, or just creating a story for lets say the student likes baseball or airplanes? I think this is an excellent idea, and I am wondering if we could have the option on going to the teacher store because they have blank picture books you can turn into an excellent book, I have had to get one of these and re-write a adult story for grade schoolers including my own desicion to use dedication, diary entries, many many pictures from the web, and facts. I love this idea and would be very open to buying 5 books because I think if we used paper it wouldn't be as special and neat as if we really used a book. I could see if I could find my book from 7th grade that I created, although the spiral has ripped from mis- handling on my part and not storing it in a good spot (my backpack) :(

The student I am really enjoying getting to know is Max. Max is so funny and really smart. He is in 8th grade too. He is in a wheelchair and he can't just go where he wants when he wants. That must be frustrating. He is not verbal, but communicates in other ways. He laughs when you say something funny. He will nod to indicate yes or no. He looks at you when you are talking so you know he is listening. I know that he likes going to the pool to swim because I saw him there a lot in the Summer. This question makes me think that I don't know him well enough yet. I'll have to find out more about him. He seems pretty easy going and fun to be with because he smiles a lot. He likes to play tricks like hiding the dry erase board eraser. All in all, Max is a cool guy and I want to get to know him better.

i chose max. i chose max because i know him best, i had science with him, im not sure what max has but i know he thinks like the avrege person but cant move his body fully, which is why hes in a wheel chair. max comunicats by anwsering yes and no questions, he will shake his head yes for yes and no for know. i dont think i have ever seen him not smileing, as far aas i can tell hes alwas happy. i have only know max for a short time but i consider him one of my friends.

i chose tim. tim is very verbal. if he has something to say, he'll say it. tim likes to take playdough, take a big chuck out, and slowly place it back in bit by bit. tim also often tries to eat the playdough. tim so far seems like a really nice guy, and if you help him out he'l look up at you and give you a big smile

i chose Kiara when i first saw her when i walking into peer tutering i thought she was very intersting. Kiara like to look at the fish bowl alot during free time and also sometimes trys to sneek a little extra fish food for them. she can be very shy or very out going. Sometimes when you try to help her, she can get very angry if she dosnt want to be helped but she can also make me laugh Alot in a good way.She likes to particapate in class and likes to smile. She is a great person over all and i LOVE to be around her.

This trimester I think I will do the personilized books. I enjoy taking pictures and it would be fun to do make personilized books for some of the kids. It would also be fun to write stories that interest the kids. For example, Becca would really enjoy a book with animals. I would be able to catch some great photos and write about cool topics, two of my favorite hobbies. Just one question, would we be incorporating the pictures of the students into the stories about their hobbies?? I think I understand everything else. Can't wait to get started, may I start bringing my camera??

I'd like to make personalized books for five students. It sounds really fun and I enjoy taking pictures too. I enjoy writing, in fact, one of my favorite subjects is Language Arts, because we get to write. I only have one question since I already asked you some in class. It's the same as one of Marissa. How do you choose five students without hurting other students feelings. This option sounds like lots of fun and I can't wait to get started.

I think Molly is really awesome. She is really hard working... most of the time. Sometimes she thinks it's funny to scan through her choices and when she gets to the one she wants to choose, she pretends like she's about to hit her toggle switch and then she scans to the next choice. She is very outgoing and will almost always give you a big smile when she sees you. She loves to be silly, but sometimes she is very serious about her work. She is really smart and can do all of her work, but sometimes she just feels like being silly or stubborn. She likes to do a lot of exploring through her choices on her vanguard and on the computer. I still would like to learn more about her vanguard. Molly is a great person and I love working with her. Olivia Lenzo
ReplyDeleteI chose Becca and she commmunicates with the spring boaard. Its a touch screen box where she touches different things to communicate with us. Her personalty is like I'll take my time and i have no problems about it. She also likes when people sing to her and she likes to smell her hair. We are trying to break that habit by making her smell candles and markers instead of hair.

I chose Maddie because she has been my buddy for two years and i love hanging out with her. Maddie likes hair, Disney channel and Hannah Montana. Maddie loves to sing Disney songs and have a great time, i look forward to spending thi year, and many more, with her.

i like the way you come up with these ideas, you just think them in your head ,and then you write them down. i think that is so cool.
